We have both in a part of small and large games, and we have found providing a set of ground rules for both the GMs and Players to see and follow helps keep the game fun. Below is our short list. When playing DEAD WATER, we ask that all of our players to read through the below rules and do their best to follow them.
|GM Promise to the Players|
|FUN||You are devoting a portion of your gaming time to us, and we will do everything we can to make sure that it is a fun experience for everyone.|
|FAIRNESS||We will do everything we can to be fair to everyone. We will not try to “get” you, and we will be as transparent as possible without compromising the narrative.|
|COMMUNICATION||We will make all announcements around playing times, who is playing and wait-listed, and so forth as far in advance as possible. We will also respond to all questions, comments and concerns as quickly as we can.|
|MAINTENANCE||We will keep the Obsidian Portal website updated with story developments, NPC information, and all other non-player information.|
|Player Promise to the GMs and Other Players|
|FUN||We want everyone to have a good time, but please don’t do so at the expense of other players’ fun. Everyone gets their time in the spotlight.|
|FAIRNESS||This probably goes without saying, but please be honest while playing. We are not going to create a game where a single failure has irreversible and catastrophic consequences.|
|COMMUNICATION||If you have any questions, comments or complaints, please let the GMs know either OOC during the game (via IM) or email/PM us between sessions. If you are scheduled to play in a game session and can’t make it, please give us as much notice as possible so we can reach out to the folks on the wait-list.|
|MAINTENANCE||Your character sheet on the Obsidian Portal website should be kept up to date from session to session.|
This is a living document. We will not make changes without notice, but we might need to make changes over time.
